The Mercury Cougar has an amazing 8 distinct generations in it's illustrious lifespan. However, here at the Muscle Car Store we are going to feature just the first three generations as we believe those are the best three versions of the car. Yes the Cougar has been a muscle car, a large luxury car, a cheap family car, and finally a small compact car, the Cougar was in production on and off from 1967 thru 2002. It's a bit of a tragedy that the Mercury corporation didn't have more respect for the line and kill it off while it was still at it's peak because originally, the Cougar was one of the most beautiful muscle cars you will ever lay your eyes on.
The absolute best Cougar to get your hands on is the first generation Cougar that was produced from 1967 until 1970. And the GT version of the Cougar was packed with performance enhancements as well as a sport handling package making the Cougar GT one of the most sought after muscle cars both then and now.
